We view the economic development opportunities in building a viable local and regional food system equal to or superior to any other strategy that a local group might seek to develop – regardless of their location.  Integrating and improving the overall performance of a regional food system can be done often with just improving the inter-connection of existing assets.  Filling in the gaps in a local system in areas like logistics or supporting food entrepreneurship are typically low cost/high return propositions.
